First Grade

Christyn Johns

Education: I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Texas in Denton in Interdisciplinary Studies, with emphasis in History, Sociology, and Art. My Teaching Certification in Texas qualifies me to teach Early Childhood through Sixth Grade with ESL 1-12 Certification.

Bio: In 2002 I left Texas for sunny Southern California, where I gained valuable experience teaching various grade levels in private and public schools. Since returning to Texas, and making Fort Worth my home, I worked with the State of Texas Workforce Development before returning to the classroom. My return to the classroom was the result of a desire to live a life of purpose and a strong desire to help children uncover the strengths that make them productive, thriving citizens.

Hobbies: One of my passions is taking road trips; recently I made a road trip to the beautiful Hill Country of Texas. When I am not taking in the sights on the road I enjoy hiking nature trails that invigorate and inspire me, and watching classic TV sitcoms, like “Gunsmoke,” “I Love Lucy” and Sanford and Son”

Education: Master's degree in Advance Literacy Instruction from Concordia University.

Experience: I have been teaching since 2005 and enjoy this group.

Bio: I have lived in Fort Worth all my life and was a former FWISD student myself. I went to Daggett Elementary, McLean Middle school and then graduated from Paschal High School. So it is very nice to look back and thank many of my teachers from this District who made a difference in my life. I am also thankful to be teaching in the Paschal pyramid where I went to school. I have been teaching first grade for seven years and enjoy the age group I teach.

Besides loving my job, I enjoy collecting children’s literature, jogging, gardening, and decorating our home. I play co-ed softball every year with friends and family. I am an only child, married and have 3 dogs. I enjoy spending time with close friends and family. My husband and I are now parents of a healthy baby girl who was born May 18, 2011.
