new principal

Dear Lily B. Clayton Families,

It is with great anticipation and excitement that I write a letter of introduction as the new principal of Lily B. Clayton Elementary School. It is truly an honor to serve a school community with such great students, parents and educators.

As the daughter of an educator, I grew up understanding the importance of education and have always had a passion for teaching and learning. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and an emphasis in literacy. My choice of a career was an easy one and I have spent 20 years in public education. My career in FWISD began 16 years ago when I was hired to teach at McLean 6th and McLean Middle School. I am very excited to return to the Paschal Pyramid and I look forward to continuing the vision of Dr. Hughes.

As the incoming principal of Lily B. Clayton, I pledge to continue the traditions of excellence that are ingrained in the culture of the campus, and the successful partnerships with the community. It is important to me that families feel welcomed and encouraged to be part of their child’s learning experience. I look forward to meeting all of you and plan to host an open house as we get closer to the start of school. Families can feel free to contact me by email at kathrina.andersen@fwisd.org. I welcome any questions or ideas that you would like to share.

Warmest regards,

Kate Andersen

new assistant principal

Greetings Lily B. Clayton Families!

First and foremost, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe, healthy, and ready for a well deserved summer break.

I am elated to have been assigned the position of Assistant Principal at Lily B. Clayton Elementary School!

My name is Eric Montoya, born, raised, and educated in Fort Worth, Texas. I was a student at all Fort Worth ISD schools, South Fort Worth Elementary (renamed Richard J. Wilson Elementary), J. P. Elder Middle School, High School of Medical Professions at North Side. I am a proud alum of Texas Wesleyan University, having earned both my bachelors and master’s degrees there. I currently serve as the President of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

I currently have 4 years of experience as an assistant principal. Before becoming an assistant principal, I taught for ten years, specifically in second and third grade at Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center. I have been with Fort Worth ISD since 2001 in different capacities.

Please know that I am 100% team “sweet Lily B.”! I am ready and willing to put in the work to continue all the wonderful efforts and success at Lily B. Clayton!

I am thankful to be with you all. Please enjoy your summer and I look forward to meeting many of you in August. Stay safe and be well!

Best regards.

Eric Montoya Assistant Principal

Please take a few minutes to complete these surveys for FWISD, Lily B, and PTA.

Summer Learning and Next School Year Survey

FWISD is conducting a survey about summer learning opportunities, returning to in-person instruction next school year, and increasing learning opportunities for students. It doesn’t take long, but you are prompted to take it for each student in FWISD. You’ll need their student ID(s).

Here’s a link to the survey.

BrightBytes Technology Survey

The goal of the BrightBytes survey is to gather data on technology access, skills, and technology environment, and to better understand the connection between technology use and student achievement on our campus. This is also an opportunity for parents to express their opinions about the Chromebooks that were recently rolled out. The survey link is unique to Lily B. parents. The survey will run through April 30th.

School of Excellence Survey

The Lily B. PTA is participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students. National PTA requests feedback from families, administrators, and teachers at the beginning and the end of the process. The first survey, deployed in fall 2019, helped PTA and school leaders understand areas in which improvements are needed. This included more broadly communicating opportunities to plan for transitions to sixth grade and greater efforts to inform and encourage families to advocate for students on the school, local, state or national level. Through the Hive, Facebook announcements, breakout sessions after PTA meetings, and regular communication between PTA, school leaders, and parents we have worked to address these challenges this school year.

Please take a few minutes to reflect on your experiences at Lily B. and complete this survey in English or in Spanish.

Thank you in advance!

Did you know Lily B. will celebrate its 100th year in 2022?

PTA is beginning to spearhead plans for celebratory and educational events for our centennial and we want to know what activities and opportunities would be meaningful for you and your family.

Please share your thoughts and feel free to share the survey link with anyone who has an interest in Lily B.
