Uniform policy
What is the uniform policy?
In order to establish a more serious learning climate among the students in our school, uniforms were instituted at Lily B. Clayton in the 1994-1995 school year as the standard dress code. The district also adopted a standardized dress code starting in 2006. Standardized dress will be worn daily except for designated days communicated through the weekly email, paper calendar or principal communication.
Standardized dress must conform to the following components:
Bottoms: Navy, khaki, blue denim or black pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers are acceptable. Shorts, skirts, and skorts must be at least finger-tip length. Pants must be worn at the appropriate size and are not allowed to bag. Acceptable accessories include belts of a solid color fabric.
Tops: Navy, white, red and light blue are acceptable. The following styles are acceptable: collared shirts or blouses, mock turtlenecks or turtlenecks. All tops must have sleeves.
Outerwear: Navy, red or white sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn during class if it does not disrupt instruction. Coats and jackets of any color may be worn in accordance with weather conditions.
Shoes: Shoelaces must be white or match the color of the shoe. Appropriate shoes must be worn during physical education activities. Students are not allowed to wear shoes with heals or open toe/open heal when participating in physical activities.
Accessories: Tights, socks and hosiery must be of solid color (white, navy or red).
Optional: Students may wear Lily B. t-shirts on Fridays only.
Is it okay to wear a red shirt?
Yes, Lily B. Clayton adopted a uniform policy in 1994 and the policy is still in place. It differs slightly from the FWISD uniform policy that was implemented in 2006. The main difference is that red and light blue shirts are allowed.
When can my child wear their Lily B. Clayton t-shirts?
Lily B. Clayton t-shirts are to be worn on Fridays and red Lily B. Clayton t-shirts are to be worn on field trips. Each child will receive a free red Lily B. Clayton t-shirt as part of Walkathon. Pre-k and kindergarten students will also receive a free red Lily B. Clayton t-shirt when school starts so that they will have one to wear on Fridays prior to receiving their Walkathon shirt. If you need an additional shirt, please order one from the school store.
Where can I buy Lily B. plaid for my daughter?
