Meet the Teacher - One evening the week before school starts, families come to school to meet their teachers for the year.
Used Uniform Sale - Families donate gently used uniforms so that others can buy them at greatly reduced prices at Meet the Teacher night.
Flag Ceremony - On the first day of school, all students and teachers come together for a special ceremony.
Walkathon - Our big fall fundraiser! Students raise money to fund PTA activities throughout the year. Plus they have fun and get some exercise!
Family Spirit Night - Families enjoy a free party with fun activities and food. We celebrate our Walkathon success.
History Fair - Students create displays of special people and events in history.
Storybook Parade - Students dress as their favorite character from a book and parade through the halls for this special tradition.
Career Day - Parents share their careers or hobbies with students.
Muffins with Mom - Students bring their moms (or grandmothers, aunts, or caregivers) early to school for a special treat to share with their friends.
Donuts with Dad - Dads (or grandfathers, uncles, or caregivers) get a special treat too and come early to enjoy donuts and coffee with their child.
Veteran’s Day Ceremony - On Veteran's Day, students honor veteran family members with a special flag ceremony.
Invention Convention - Students come up with creative and innovative ideas and bring their projects to school.
Clayton Holiday Corner - Led by Ms. Daniels, students buy holiday presents on their own and learn about budgeting and selection. Older grade students also work the store. Proceeds help to keep the colorful Clayton Yearbook at a low price.
Singing in the Halls - The last week of school in December, students and families join together to sing holiday music.
Running Club - An after-school program led by Mr. Dague in which students in grades 3rd-5th run twice a week in preparation for the Cowtown in February.
Spelling Bee - Students compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Valentinegrams - Parents, students and teachers send special messages to each other on Valentine's Day.
Cans of Love Food Drive - Students bring canned goods to school to help others in need.
Field Day - Led by Mr. Dague, students compete in a variety of outdoor athletic competitions.
University Interscholastic League (UIL) - Students form teams and compete in different areas from storytelling to math.
Science Fair - Always wanted to hypothesize a new scientific theory? Now is your chance! Kindergarten through 5th grade can participate in the district science fair.
Spring Bonnet Parade - Students create and proudly display homemade bonnets to celebrate Spring!
Goodies with Grandparents - Grandparents pick up their students and stay and play after school with a special treat!
Auction - Our big Spring fundraiser, families of Lily B. students enjoy a fun, adults only evening while benefiting the school.
5th Grade Trip to San Antonio - All students in 5th Grade take a trip to San Antonio for adventure and learning.
Marvelous Monday - On the last Monday of the school year, students enjoy a cultural arts day as community members and parents teach classes during the day. Depending on Memorial Day, it is sometimes known as "Terrific Tuesday".
Graduation Ceremonies - Pre-K students participate in a graduation ceremony. Students in grades 2 through 5 are promoted to the next grade. 5th grade students are "clapped out" of school early by the other students.
Visiting Authors - Students enjoy visits from visiting authors in the library throughout the year.
Chess Club - Led by Mr. Dague, students in 4th and 5th grades stay after school from 3-4 pm to learn chess strategies and play against each other.
Specials Classes: Art, Music & PE - Students in all grades rotate daily to either Art, Music or PE.
Library Lessons / Accelerated Reader - Students go weekly to the library for lessons and to check out books. Students test their reading comprehension with the AR (Accelerated Reader) program for rewards.
Dads Morning Reading Buddies - Younger students are paired with older students to work on reading skills.
Morning Announcements Crew - Students work on speech skills by reading the morning announcements.
5th Grade Safety Patrol - Led by Mr. Dague, 5th Grade students help to guide younger students and are leaders in the school.
Newspaper - Led by Ms. Daniels, students meet before school to work on reporting and writing skills by producing a monthly newsletter.
After School Spanish - After school Spanish lessons are available to students in all grades.
Mrs. Cook's Books - The PTA uses funds to provide a free book to each student 2 or 3 times per year.
Teacher Treats Days - On six days each year, the PTA provides special treats for the teachers and faculty.
Clayton Youth Enrichment - An onsite before and after school program.
