Why do I need to register my child for the 2023-2024 school year?
Registering ensures that the district will be able to staff Lily B. appropriately for our student population.
At last check, there are about 150 students from last school year who HAVE NOT been registered. Please register as soon as possible here.
When will I find out who my child’s teacher is?
If your child has been registered, his or her teacher will mail you a letter on Monday, August 7 before Meet the Teachers night on Thursday, August 10.
If a letter is not received, proof of address will be requested, and class assignments can be obtained at Meet the Teachers night or by calling the office on Friday, August 11.
What happens at Meet the Teachers night?
Meet the Teachers night is Thursday, August 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Students and families have an opportunity to meet their teachers and find their classrooms.
The PTA will also have t-shirts and other items available for purchase, gently used uniforms and Lily B. shirts available for free, and other information that will help you start off the school year.
What is the uniform policy?
Students can generally wear:
Navy, khaki, blue denim or black pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers
Navy, white, red or light blue collared shirts or blouses or turtlenecks
Lily B. t-shirts on Fridays
Plaid jumpers, skirts, and skorts in Red Plaid #94
Detailed information about the uniform policy is available here.
Do I need to purchase school supplies?
No. The Fort Worth ISD will provide free supplies for every elementary school student enrolled for the 2023-2024 academic year.
This page provides a summary of the many special traditions and events we have. A printable version is available here.
What should I be prepared for on the first day of school?
Here is a list of tips to help prepare you:
School hours: 7:50 to 3:20 (pre-k out at 2:30)
School doors open at 7:45 am
Back doors by the cafeteria open at 7:30 am for students eating breakfast.
You may walk your child to class, but please leave promptly so the school day can begin.
Refer to the dropoff and dismissal policies and please remember that walkers must cross at crosswalks and drivers must stop at crosswalks.
Afternoon pickup is outside by the flagpole, with students lining up by grade starting with 5th grade at the corner and moving toward kindergarten further down Berkeley Place. Pre-k picks up at the cafeteria doors.
No dogs on campus during dropoff or dismissal to protect those who are allergic or fearful and due to overall unpredictability.
FWPD will be present to assist with dropoff and pickup during the first two weeks of school.
Why are there 5th Graders asking me to stay off the grass?
5th Grade Safety Patrol members are leaders at our school and have been asked to assist with efforts to ensure that our investment in new landscaping and irrigation system improvements have a long-lasting impact.
I would like to volunteer at the school this year. What do I need to do?
To get started, first complete a background check online. This is required every year of all people volunteering for the school.
You can find more detailed information about volunteer opportunities and let our Volunteer Coordinator know that you are interested here.
What before-school and after-school programming is available?
On-site care is available before and after school care from Clayton Youth Enrichment. In addition, the Boys and Girls Club operates a bus that runs from Lily B. after school, and certain Fort Worth Community Centers may have after-school options that include transportation.
The PTA also hosts various After School Activities each semester. More information on fall options will be posted here soon.
My child will ride the bus. Where can I get more information?
You can use your address to search for bus stops and route information here.
How does lunch money work?
Meal prices and information about free and reduced lunch is available through the FWISD website here. The district page also includes instructions for creating and managing a MySchoolBucks account so that your child can buy school meals.
The lunch menu is available here.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
Yes, except for certain testing days, visitors are permitted during lunchtime. Visitors must sit at tables reserved for "Lunch Visitors" and may only have lunch with their own child. Other students are to remain at their class's assigned table.
All visitors must check in upon arrival and check out when leaving (in the front office with Mrs. Conner or Ms. Garcia).
More information (and an updated lunch schedule for the 2023-2024 school year) will be posted here soon.
What happens at the grade level parent meetings?
Grade level parent meetings will be held for Kindergarten through 5th Grade during the evenings of August 22-24 as shown in the Calendar. At these meetings, teachers from each grade level will share curriculum expectations and goals for the year. The target audience for these meetings is parents and caregivers (and children should not attend unless you have cleared it with their teacher).
How do I access my child's report card?
Attendance information, grades, progress reports, and report cards are available through the FWISD Parent Portal.
How will I find out about field trips?
Field trip dates are planned by FWISD's central administration office. Your child's teacher typically will notify you about upcoming field trips a week or two in advance. You will be required to sign a permission slip for your child to attend any field trip.
