Leslie Mendoza
Dyslexia
Bio: I’ve been an educator with FWISD since 2005, and I previously taught 4th grade English Language Arts. For the past 8 years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Provider of Dyslexia Instruction. I’m passionate about helping students overcome reading challenges, and I hold certifications as a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP) through ALTA, a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (SLDI) through the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and a Dyslexia Practitioner License through the state of Texas. I also have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on reading.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, our four children, and our grandchildren. In my free time, I enjoy reading (I love audible books!), inspiring children to develop a love for reading, delving into genealogy, and exploring new places with my family. Patricia Polacco is my favorite children’s author and illustrator.
