Why do I need to register my child for the 2024-2025 school year?
Registering ensures that the district will be able to staff Lily B. appropriately for our student population.
Please register as soon as possible here.
When will I find out who my child’s teacher is?
If your child has been registered, his or her teacher will mail you a letter on Monday, August 5 before Meet the Teachers night on Thursday, August 8.
If a letter is not received, proof of address will be requested, and class assignments can be obtained at Meet the Teachers night or by calling the office on Friday, August 9.
What happens at Meet the Teachers night?
Meet the Teachers night is Thursday, August 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Students and families have an opportunity to meet their teachers and find their classrooms.
The PTA will also have t-shirts and other items available for purchase, gently used uniforms and Lily B. shirts available for free, and other information that will help you start off the school year.
What is the uniform policy?
Students can generally wear:
Navy, khaki, blue denim or black pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers
Navy, white, red or light blue collared shirts or blouses or turtlenecks
Lily B. t-shirts on Fridays
Plaid jumpers, skirts, and skorts in Red Plaid #94
More detailed information about the uniform policy is available here.
Do I need to purchase school supplies?
No. The Fort Worth ISD will provide free supplies for every elementary school student enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year. The PTA also provides each teacher and office staff member with a Teacher Fund budget to cover additional classroom supply needs.
This page provides a summary of the many special traditions and events we have. Another good opportunity to learn more is at the Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sweet Lily B. Presentation given by the Principal and PTA leaders after the first general PTA meeting of the year. It's a great opportunity for newcomers to learn more about our school. The 2024 presentation is available here.
What should I be prepared for on the first day of school?
Here is a list of tips to help prepare you:
School hours: 7:50 am to 3:20 pm
School doors open at 7:45 am.
The back doors by the cafeteria open at 7:30 am for students eating breakfast.
You may walk your child to class, but please leave promptly so the school day can begin.
Refer to the dropoff and dismissal policies and please remember that walkers must cross at crosswalks and drivers must stop at crosswalks.
Afternoon pickup is outside by the flagpole, with students lining up by grade starting with 5th grade at the corner and moving toward pre-K further down Berkeley Place.
No pets are allowed on campus during dropoff or dismissal to protect those who are allergic or fearful and due to overall unpredictability.
FWPD will be present to assist with dropoff and pickup during the first two weeks of school.
Are there any changes for the 2024-2025 school year I should be aware of?
Yes. To facilitate the positive learning environment at Lily B., the school leadership team has implemented the following changes for 2024-2025:
Student early dismissals: All student early dismissals will need to happen or be scheduled by 2:45 pm. After 2:45 pm, all students will be dismissed at the end of the school day at regular dismissal areas. Find out more about the dismissal policy here.
Student lunches: The school can no longer accommodate accepting food delivery services (e.g., DoorDash and Uber Eats) for students. Families are welcome to drop off a student lunch at the front office, and office staff will ensure that it gets to the student in time for lunch. Find out more about lunch policies here.
Why are there 5th Graders asking me to stay off the grass?
5th Grade Safety Patrol members are leaders at our school and have been asked to assist with efforts to ensure that our investment in new landscaping and irrigation system improvements have a long-lasting impact.
I would like to volunteer at the school this year. What do I need to do?
To get started, first complete a background check online. This is required every year of all people volunteering for the school.
You can find more detailed information about volunteer opportunities here.
What before-school and after-school programming is available?
On-site care is available before and after school care from Clayton Youth Enrichment. In addition, the Boys and Girls Club operates a bus that runs from Lily B. after school, and certain Fort Worth Community Centers may have after-school options that include transportation.
The PTA also hosts various After School Activities each semester. More information on fall options will be posted here soon.
My child will ride the bus. Where can I get more information?
You can use your address to search for bus stops and route information here.
How does lunch money work?
Meal prices and information about free and reduced lunch is available through the FWISD website here. For 2024-2025, breakfast and lunch are available for free to all students, but students may pay for snacks and extra items. This district page includes instructions for creating and managing a MySchoolBucks account so that your child can make purchases.
The lunch menu is available here. Note that this site lists our school as "Clayton Elementary" if you are looking for it in an alphabetical list.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
Yes, except for certain testing days and during the first few weeks of school (when students are settling into their new school lunch routines), visitors are permitted during lunchtime. Visitors must sit at tables reserved for "Lunch Visitors" and may only have lunch with their own child. Other students are to remain at their class's assigned table.
All visitors must check in upon arrival and check out when leaving (in the front office with Mrs. Conner or Ms. Garcia).
More information (and an updated lunch schedule for the 2024-2025 school year) is available here.
What happens at the grade level parent meetings?
Grade level parent meetings will be held for Kindergarten through 5th Grade during the evenings of August 20-22 as shown in the Calendar. At these meetings, teachers from each grade level will share curriculum expectations and goals for the year. The target audience for these meetings is parents and caregivers (and children should not attend unless you have cleared it with their teacher).
How do I access my child's report card?
Attendance information, grades, progress reports, and report cards are available through the FWISD Parent Portal.
How will I find out about field trips?
Field trip dates are planned by FWISD's central administration office. Your child's teacher typically will notify you about upcoming field trips a week or two in advance. You will be required to sign a permission slip for your child to attend any field trip.
How do I join the PTA?
Once the PTA year begins August 1, you can pay your annual membership dues. At that time, this page will be updated to include new membership payment links and updated membership tiers:
Flower: $8 for 1 membership
Bee: $14 for 2 memberships
Double Your Support: $13 for dual membership in the Lily B. Clayton PTA and the FWISD Special Education PTA
What happens at PTA meetings?
During PTA general meetings, the PTA President, Treasurer, and other PTA leaders give a brief update on PTA financials, events, and other news. General members also have the opportunity to vote on the PTA budget and elect PTA officers. Any member of the PTA is allowed to vote at general meetings.
During PTA Executive Board meetings, the Executive Board of the PTA has more detailed discussions of PTA activities and financial considerations and hears from school leaders and PTA members regarding other news. Any member of the PTA is welcome to attend Executive Board meetings, but only the Executive Board votes on items heard at these meetings.
What does the PTA spend money on?
Each year, the PTA budget includes a wide variety of expenditures made to support our school. Here are just some of the ways the PTA has spent money in the past few years:
Supplemental curriculum materials and training for teachers
A $500 per teacher annual budget for classroom needs (based on community input on spending priorities, PTA is increasing this amount to $700 for each teacher this year)
Subsidized after school activities such as Spanish classes
Free yearbooks for all students the past three years (based on community input on PTA spending priorities, PTA is reducing its contribution to yearbooks to 50% this year)
Free Walkathon and Field Day t-shirts for every student
Student rewards for the Accelerated Reader program
Books for the library and visiting author fees
Books for each student to take home during Mrs. Cook's Books
5th Grade Trip expenses, resulting in a significant decrease to the per-student cost
Class party expenses
Garden Club expenses
Monthly Teacher Appreciation meals and goodies
Professional presenters for Marvelous Monday
Activities for PTA events including Family Spirit Night, the Bumblebee Ball, and Bumblebee Ballgames
Treats for campus events including the Yahoo Boohoo Coffee, Stay and Plays, Muffins with Moms, Donuts with Dads, Goodies with Grandparents, Spelling Bee Reception, and 5th Grade Promotion

I took the PTA Budget Survey last spring. What were the results?
Many members of our community, including parents and staff members, completed our PTA Budget Survey last spring to help our PTA Finance Committee assess where additional funds should be allocated for 2024-2025. The survey findings and outcomes include:
An overwhelming priority placed on ensuring that teachers have a sufficient budget to cover their classroom supply needs. While the district is again providing supplies for elementary school students this year, teachers often purchase additional supplies and classroom furnishings to enhance their students' learning environments. Based on the feedback received on the survey, our PTA is increasing the annual budget for teachers from $500 to $700. Other ways staff members are supported include budgets for office staffer supplies, $200 per teacher for additional curriculum needs (e.g., magazine subscriptions, class book sets), discounted pricing on spirit shirts, and Teacher Appreciation events.
Strong support for Teacher Appreciation events, with an emphasis on ensuring that implementation is as easy as possible for both staff members and parents. Based on this feedback, our PTA is increasing the Teacher Appreciation budget by $2,500 so that monthly staff lunches can be catered.
Moderate priority placed on social events and after-school activities. For now, the PTA does not intend to adjust these budgets, although we are looking for more opportunities to enhance the after-school activity offerings and may consider subsidizing additional programming.
Lower priority placed on providing free yearbooks. Based on this feedback, our PTA is planning to cover 50% of the cost of yearbooks for 2024-2025. We are working with Ms. Daniels to finalize arrangements with our yearbook vendor and will share more information once plans are in place.
Lower priority placed on subsidizing the cost of the 5th Grade Trip to lower cost per student. Based on this feedback, our PTA is not going to adjust the 5th Grade Trip budget, but our PTA Finance Committee will continue to assess spending in this area. Specific consideration is given to expenses like the kindergarten Log Cabin Village field trip and the 5th Grade Trip because they directly impact all students in the particular grade level.
Mixed feedback on landscaping expenses, which were ranked as lowest priority even though much of the survey's written feedback included recommendations for landscaping improvements. Based on this feedback, our PTA will continue to cover periodic landscaping clean-ups and to advocate for the district to improve its regular landscaping practices so that weeds and leaves do not accumulate on campus and our sprinkler systems remain in working order.
Support for increasing Room Parent budgets to cover additional party and event expenses. Based on this feedback, our PTA is increasing the annual Room Parent budget from $200 to $300 per class.
Support for increasing the Accelerated Reader (AR) budget to fully cover the cost of prizes and awards. Based on this feedback, our PTA is increasing the AR budget.
Our PTA will begin providing free spirit shirts for pre-K and kindergarten students prior to Walkathon so that they have a shirt to wear on Fridays earlier in the year.
Our PTA is looking into other suggestions, including collecting and/or purchasing items for additional dress-up days (adding bonnets, western-wear, Hispanic heritage, and other dress-up items to our collection that already includes Storybook Parade costumes), renting a color printer, making safety enhancements, and working with the district to deep clean the school.
What are Secret Pals?
Secret Pals are generous volunteers who select a teacher or other staff member to whom they deliver a few small tokens of appreciation during the course of the year. More information is available here.
What is the Dads' Club?
Dads' Club is a group of school dads who come together for:
Social events
School projects such as burying time capsules, assembling furniture, and campus cleanups
Participation in the Dads' Club Reading Buddies Program through which dads pair up with a younger student to help him or her work on reading skills
