Caroline McDonald
SPED Assistant
Education: I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1999 with a degree in English.
Experience: I have spent my career in a variety of education positions and loved them all! I began as a full-day PreK teacher in St. Paul, MN when Head Start was a new program. In 2002, I became a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan. My primary role there was as a part of the TEFL program (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), teaching students and training colleagues at a middle school in the mountains. In 2005, I moved to California where I taught 3rd grade in Oakland. I took a hiatus from teaching while my children were young, and then came back to my career here at Lily B. Clayton in 2017 - first as a tutor, then as a PreK assistant, and now as the Special Education assistant. I love this school community and being in a support role fits my life perfectly right now!
Bio: I was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN and am a midwestern girl at heart. My husband and I graduated from high school and college together, and were married just before we left for the Peace Corps in 2002. Afterwards, we moved first to Berkeley, CA and then to Fort Worth, TX while my husband worked on grad school programs. By the time he finished, Fort Worth felt like home and we decided to stay! We have a daughter and a son, who have both been Lily Bees. Our family loves to read, explore the Trinity Trails, cheer for the TCU baseball team, and go camping. And we still make a trek to Minnesota every summer to get out of the heat and see all our relatives!
