From Dr. Hughes...

It's hard to believe we are at the end of the 4th 6-weeks of school. The 5th 6-weeks begins after Spring Break on Monday, March 22. If you would like to change the learning preference of your child, this would be a great time to do so. Please notify me or the homeroom teacher if you would like to make a change.

Congratulations to Mrs. Olazaba, 1st grade teacher, for being selected as the LIly B Clayton Teacher of the Year! This is what her colleague said about her. "Lupita Olazaba should be considered for Teacher of the year for many reasons but include: her strength in literacy education, her positive output her students/team/staff consistently receive, and her teamwork and assistance vertically with all grade level teachers. Her literacy strategies for teaching students to read are the strongest I have seen and to do so thoroughly virtually is AMAZING! Anytime I ever see her in the hallway she is cheerful and greeting me with sunshine and kindness. I know that if I am ever in need of assistance of any kind, she is there openly and willingly.

Congratulations, Lily B. Artists

Two Lily Bees are being honored for their achievements in the National PTA Reflections contest this year. The theme for the 2020-2021 program year is I Matter Because....

About Reflections: National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

Way To Go Patrols!

Each year, Lily B Clayton 5th graders have the opportunity to serve as the school's safety patrols. The patrols make sure the younger students are safe and in the correct location before school, they are responsible for raising the flag each day and for greeting students and parents as they arrive. Thank you patrols for making everyone safer and our days brighter!

Thank you Library Volunteers

Volunteers help students find books, check them in and out, and re-shelve them. The library is a fun place to become involved with your child's class.

When students return to school, we will post the library schedule. Parents and grandparents like to sign up to volunteer when their child's class visits the library. When FWISD allows volunteers in schools, we will definitely look forward to having your help. If you'd like to be put on a list to volunteer in the library during the 2020-2021 school year (if possible) please email me at lara.bradshaw@fwisd.org.

Sign Up for Secret Pals

Parents, please consider being a "Secret Pal" to one of our teachers or staff. Volunteers are asked to provide three small ($20-$25) tokens of appreciation throughout the school year. We suggest doing a Welcome Back, Happy New Year, End of School Year and/or Birthday treat. Our teacher and staff love this program and it is a great way to show our appreciation for all that they do for Sweet Lily B. Once you are paired with someone, you will receive an information sheet with that staff member's likes, interests, etc. If you are interested, please email pwdenney@yahoo.com
