Why do I need to register my child for the 2024-2025 school year?

Registering ensures that the district will be able to staff Lily B. appropriately for our student population.

Please register as soon as possible here.

When will I find out who my child’s teacher is?

If your child has been registered, his or her teacher will mail you a letter on Monday, August 5 before Meet the Teachers night on Thursday, August 8.

If a letter is not received, proof of address will be requested, and class assignments can be obtained at Meet the Teachers night or by calling the office on Friday, August 9.

What happens at Meet the Teachers night?

Meet the Teachers night is Thursday, August 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Students and families have an opportunity to meet their teachers and find their classrooms.

The PTA will also have t-shirts and other items available for purchase, gently used uniforms and Lily B. shirts available for free, and other information that will help you start off the school year.

What is the uniform policy?

Students can generally wear:

More detailed information about the uniform policy is available here.

Do I need to purchase school supplies?

No. The Fort Worth ISD will provide free supplies for every elementary school student enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year. The PTA also provides each teacher and office staff member with a Teacher Fund budget to cover additional classroom supply needs.

I'm new to Lily B. and don't know what some of the events listed on the Calendar are.

This page provides a summary of the many special traditions and events we have.  A printable version is available here.

What should I be prepared for on the first day of school?

Here is a list of tips to help prepare you:

Why are there 5th Graders asking me to stay off the grass?

5th Grade Safety Patrol members are leaders at our school and have been asked to assist with efforts to ensure that our investment in new landscaping and irrigation system improvements have a long-lasting impact.

I would like to volunteer at the school this year.  What do I need to do?

To get started, first complete a background check online. This is required every year of all people volunteering for the school.

You can find more detailed information about volunteer opportunities here.

What before-school and after-school programming is available?

On-site care is available before and after school care from Clayton Youth Enrichment. In addition, the Boys and Girls Club operates a bus that runs from Lily B. after school, and certain Fort Worth Community Centers may have after-school options that include transportation.

The PTA also hosts various After School Activities each semester.  More information on fall options will be posted here soon.

My child will ride the bus.  Where can I get more information?

You can use your address to search for bus stops and route information here.

How does lunch money work?

Meal prices and information about free and reduced lunch is available through the FWISD website here.  For 2024-2025, breakfast and lunch are available for free to all students, but students may pay for snacks and extra items. The district page includes instructions for creating and managing a MySchoolBucks account so that your child can make purchases.

The lunch menu is available here.

Can I eat lunch with my child?

Yes, except for certain testing days and during the first few weeks of school (when students are settling into their new school lunch routines), visitors are permitted during lunchtime.  Visitors must sit at tables reserved for "Lunch Visitors" and may only have lunch with their own child.  Other students are to remain at their class's assigned table.

All visitors must check in upon arrival and check out when leaving (in the front office with Mrs. Conner or Ms. Garcia).

More information (and an updated lunch schedule for the 2024-2025 school year) will be posted here soon.

What happens at the grade level parent meetings?

Grade level parent meetings will be held for Kindergarten through 5th Grade during the evenings of August 20-22 as shown in the Calendar.  At these meetings, teachers from each grade level will share curriculum expectations and goals for the year.  The target audience for these meetings is parents and caregivers (and children should not attend unless you have cleared it with their teacher).

How do I access my child's report card?

Attendance information, grades, progress reports, and report cards are available through the FWISD Parent Portal.

How will I find out about field trips?

Field trip dates are planned by FWISD's central administration office. Your child's teacher typically will notify you about upcoming field trips a week or two in advance.  You will be required to sign a permission slip for your child to attend any field trip.

How do I join the PTA?

Once the PTA year begins August 1, you can pay your annual membership dues.  At that time, this page will be updated to include new membership payment links and updated membership tiers:

What happens at PTA meetings?

During PTA general meetings, the PTA President, Treasurer, and other PTA leaders give a brief update on PTA financials, events, and other news.  General members also have the opportunity to vote on the PTA budget and elect PTA officers.  Any member of the PTA is allowed to vote at general meetings.

During PTA Executive Board meetings, the Executive Board of the PTA has more detailed discussions of PTA activities and financial considerations and hears from school leaders and PTA members regarding other news. Any member of the PTA is welcome to attend Executive Board meetings, but only the Executive Board votes on items heard at these meetings.
