Message from the PTA President...

It is time to go back to school again at LILY B!

Welcome back to all of the returning and new students and families!  We also welcome our new 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Soto, and give a special welcome to our new principal, Dr. Stephanie Hughes.  Dr. Hughes comes to us from Bonnie Brea Elementary and will be a wonderful addition to our Lily B. family!  Dr. Hughes understands the importance of carrying on the traditions and the academic excellence that has made Lily B the best and most beloved elementary school in Fort Worth.  Good luck to Beth Hollinger, who takes over as one of the directors of Elementary School Leadership for FWISD.

Like you, I am excited to begin the 2011-2012 School Year!  Your PTA has worked hard to plan many exciting and rewarding events for the upcoming year.

On behalf of your new 2011-2012 Lily B Clayton PTA Board, I cannot express how thrilled we are to partner with, and support our Lily B parents, teachers, and students this school year.  With the support of the BEST PARENTS AND FALCULTY IN FORT WORTH, we cannot help but have ANOTHER successful year.  A new year filled with new goals, new aspirations, and new memories to create!  May you cherish every new day and new adventure of this school year with your child!

Do you wonder where the PTA spends the money raised through membership dues and fundraising? Here are some of the ways your PTA dollars have been spent so far during the 2011-12 school year.
  • $5,600 on general classroom supplies and materials
  • $2,900 for the Accelerated Reader program
  • $900 on math training for teachers and parents
  • $750 on Family Science Night
  • $270 on a membership to Starfall, an online reading and writing resource for students
  • $1,000 for visiting author George Shannon
  • $1,600 on books for RIF and “book of the month”
  • $61,000 on the new track
  • $400 on new stairway carpet for the school
  • $370 on improvements to the teachers’ lounge
  • $200 to have both school pianos tuned
  • $300 on the Lily B float for the Hispanic Heritage Parade
  • $3,500 on Family Spirit Night food and activities
  • $2,300 on red Lily B t-shirts for all students
  • $1,700 on food and beverages for special events such as Muffins with Mom and Donuts with Dad as well as the general PTA meetings
  • $200 on the Kindergarten Coffee for prospective Lily B students
  • $600 on student birthday gifts
  • $80 on the student directories provided to all PTA members
