Kindergarten

Courtney Barrett

Experience:
 I started in 1995 teaching Pre K.

Education: Graduate of Texas Wesleyan University

Bio:  My history with Lily B. Clayton runs deep.  Not only did I do my student teaching here, but my father attended Lily B. and my mother's great aunt, Lulu Parker, was the first principal here, too.  Both of my daughters attended school here also.

Teaching Kindergarten is very rewarding for me and my favorite thing about it is the fact that kindergarten is the beginning of each child's education and a launching pad for greater things to come.  I know that leaving a child to begin their first year in a great big new place is difficult and being sensitive to the parents and the student is so important.  Watching the child develop is the best reward a teacher can ask for and so much of that happens in kindergarten.

Tedye Collins

Experience:
I've been teaching since 1975, all at Clayton in Kindergarten. My daughters went to Lily B. Clayton and now my granddaughter attends Lily B. Clayton.

Education:  Graduated from North Texas State University; Masters from TCU

Bio:  My favorite part about begin a Kindergarten teacher is the enthusiasm the children bring when new and different topics are introduced.  Their inquisitive minds always want to the know the "how" and "why", which is such a delight when they truly grasp a new concept.  Kindergarten is such a fun and exciting age.

Bio:  I love working with children and watching them grow and learn. I enjoy learning new things and hope to instill in my students a love for learning.

Hobbies: Some of my hobbies are reading, cooking, gardening, and TCU football-GO FROGS!

Andrea Frailey

Bio:  I have always loved school since I was a little girl and as a teacher I love seeing my students light up when they learn new things. I started learning Spanish at a very young age and continued to learn Spanish throughout my high school and college career. I am so excited to be able to be a part of the two-way dual language program here at Lily B., and to see how much each child loves learning in Spanish has been amazing! Kindergarten is such a foundational year, and being able to teach children and make learning fun is definitely a reward beyond measure!

Experience:  I started teaching in August of 2007 as a Dual Language Kindergarten Teacher at M.G. Ellis and taught there for six years. This year is my seventh year teaching Kindergarten but my first year at Lily B. Clayton, and I feel so blessed to be a part of the sweet Lily B. family!

Education:  B.A. in International Business and Spanish from UTA and then I went back to school to receive my teacher's certification.

Hobbies: Some of my hobbies are; first and foremost, spending time with my family, especially my husband Steven and my daughter Annabella and our baby boy who was born in January 2014! I also love singing, exercising, eating out or at home with friends, cheering for our TCU Horned Frogs, and really just learning and growing as a person (wife, mom, daughter and teacher)!
